Biliary Tract Diseases Among Koreans

Abstract
In order to specifically analyse the difference in manifestation of biliary tract diseases between Korean and Americal populations, 538 cases of non-malignant biliary tract diseases operated on between June 1965 to June 1972 were studied.
Following subjects emerged as the most interesting points:
1. intrahepatic stones-location of .stone
2. chemical compostion of stoves,
3. parasites in biliary ttact,
4. indication for common duct exploration among Korean patients
5. diagnostic reliablity of X-rays among Korean patients.
6. non-calculous biliary tract disease and problem of biliary dyskinesia
Discussions on the above subjects will be handled under separate titles. -
The trend is unmistakable that the disease are rapidly becoming similar to those of Americans and in some well fed urban -population such trend is even more striking. It is clear that, whatever the difference in disease manifestations, they are due to acquired factors originating from difference in food, custom, environments, and etc. rather than genetic difference in nature.
